TRENTON – The Republicans one by one bad mouthed the Democrats’ budget on the floor of the senate, explaning why they won’t support it, as it passed along party lines, 24-16 votes.
The Democrats’ proposed $31.7 billion budget doesn’t contain a tax cut, said Senate Minority Leader Tom Kean (R-21). That was state Sen. Jennifer Beck’s (R-11) argument too.
Senator Barbara Buono (D-18) poked at the GOP argument, making the point that Gov. Chris Christie’s state revenue estimates depart from the state Department of OLS’s more austere figures.
“I think the Republicans would support $83 million in our reseve to offset the cuts that will be coming,” Buono said. “I’m not sure what we’re arguing.”
