Kyrillos gets nod from chamber

Republican U.S. Senate candidate Joe Kyrillos today received the endorsement of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

Kyrillos, a state senator, is challenging incumbent Democratic U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez.

“American small businesses and job creators are facing undeniably hard times right now. We are not producing jobs at the rate we should because of the uncertainty of new or higher taxes, and more regulation,” Kyrillos said in a release. “Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, and the policies supported by Bob Menendez are killing their opportunity for growth.”

In endorsing the challenger, the chamber made no bones about what it expects from elected leaders.

“As a leader in the State Senate, Kyrillos helped turn things around for New Jersey and will advance legislation that encourages economic growth, job creation, and a less intrusive federal government in Washington,” said  Rob Engstrom, senior vice president and national political director for the chamber. “The U.S. Chamber is proud to stand with him in his campaign for United States Senate.”

The Chamber of COmmerce has been active in several races already, launching ads supporting Republican candidates for Senate in five battleground states.
