TRENTON – The Police Benevolent Association (PBA) today formally endorsed the re-election of U.S. Rep. Jon Runyan (R-3), who has a 100% voting record on the organization’s priorities.
“Jon Runyan has established himself during his first term in Congress as an ardent supporter of law enforcement officers in New Jersey and around the nation and a leader in the fight to put more cops on the streets at a time when staffing levels of police have been severely reduced and crime is rising,” said State PBA President Anthony Wieners.
The PBA cited Runyan’s support for enhancing the national Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) grant program several times.
“I am honored to receive the support of the brave men and women who keep our neighborhoods safe every day,” said Runyan. “It’s extra special given the fact that my wife, Loretta, is a former police officer herself. I have been involved with charitable organizations that support fallen officers and their families for many years, so to receive their endorsement for my campaign is truly humbling.”
Runyan is running for re-election against attorney Shelley Adler.
