Wisniewski blasts Christie over special session

TRENTON – Assemblyman John Wisniewski, (D-19), Sayreville, told PolitickerNJ that Gov. Chris Christie today chose theatrical optics at the expense of the state Constitution.

“The state Constitution says the governor has the authority to call the Legislature in for a special session when the public interest warrants,” said Wisniewski, chairman of the state Democratic Party.

There was nothing in the speech that met that threshold, Wisniewski said.

All Christie succeeded in doing this afternoon was create a highlight reel for the National Republican Convention, said Wisniewski, a likely candidate for governor in 2013.
