Olympic Games: Good or Bad for London Arts Institutions?

The Olympic Games, with the massive influx of people it has brought to London this summer, has produced only mixed results for the city’s arts organizations, according to The Guardian. At the British Museum, visitor numbers are down 25 percent, but the National Theatre has reported nearly full houses every night.

The Tate Modern, however, has had a decent summer so far–at least from a PR perspective–with the opening of the new Tanks gallery space and the much-publicized Tino Sehgal exhibition. Still, a spokesperson told The Guardian that ticket sales are down for the charging exhibitions, and the Tate Britian has seen a “sharp drop” in ticket sales as well.
