Assembly Candidate Has a ‘Call Me Maybe’ Campaign Song

Congressman Joe Crowley made politicos from Albany to Washington D.C. crack up with giggles when video emerged of him rocking out to “Call Me Maybe” in a crowd of teenage girls two weeks ago, and now, at least one other candidate is hoping Carly Rae Jepsen still has some political magic in New York. To wit, Adam Bermudez, a steep underdog candidate in a Bronx race made more famous by the woes of the incumbent, Assemblywoman Naomi Rivera, is out with a campaign song to the same tune.

As voters head to the polls on September 13th, only a few days away, even if Mr. Bermudez’s video were to go viral, the race is still likely to be a two candidate affair between Ms. Rivera and businessman Mark Gjonaj, a heavy fundraiser who is investing his campaign war chest into extensive GOTV and advertising efforts. Also in the race is Irene Estrada-Rukaj.

“All the other candidates, they think I’m crazy,” Mr. Bermudez astutely observers at one point in the song. “Vote for me maybe.”

Without further ado, here’s the video:
