It must have been love, but it’s over now between actress Mira Sorvino and her two-bedroom, two-bath co-op at 200 West 79th Street.
The actress has sold her airy duplex penthouse for $1.725 million, according to city records. It was a rather laudable performance, especially considering that Ms. Sorvino had the apartment listed for only a little over a month at $1.7 million with Prudential Douglas Elliman broker William Postrion. Bravo!
Ms. Sorvino purchased the bright space for $1.58 million back in 2007. With 17-foot high ceilings and walls of windows, it was a lovely pad for Ms. Sorvino, her husband, and her two young children. But Ms. Sorvino has since had two more children and as an Academy Award-winning actress, she certainly doesn’t need to suffer of the indignity of scrunching her family of six into a two bedroom. Even two “very generous” bedrooms. No trace of recent purchases exist in city records under Ms. Sorvino’s name, but we’d guess the New York native and her husband, actor Christopher Backus, have settled in a more spacious spot.
While modest by penthouse standards, the apartment nonetheless sounds like a lovely place to perch for buyers Elizabeth Wittels and Colin Renz, particularly the 120-square foot set-back terrace. Applause for all.
