In a BuzzFeed report discussing presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s tan, Anna Stankiewicz, owner of the New York-based spray tan company Suvara, discussed her political clients. Among them, she said, was Council Speaker Christine Quinn, a likely mayoral candidate in 2013.

Ms. Stankiewicz said Ms. Quinn was “cool about it.”

We reached out to Ms. Quinn’s office and her spokesman, Jamie McShane, unequivocally denied the speaker gets spray tanned.

“Christine Quinn has never been spray tanned,”  Mr. McShane said.

We also attempted to call Ms. Stankiewicz to see if she stands by her story of spraying the speaker, but did not receive a response. Obviously, we will continue to follow all developments in this crucial story and keep you, our dear readers, posted.

Update (5:45 pm): BuzzFeed updated their report with a quote from a City Council spokeswoman denying the allegation, as well as a response from Ms. Stankiewicz, who “reiterated that she had indeed spray tanned the Speaker about three years ago at Rita Hazan Salon in New York City.” This seems a slight dial-back from the tanner’s initial claim of possible house calls.
