Conservative Christian speaker and author Dinesh D’Souza shared a hotel room with Denise Odie Joseph II, a woman he introduced as his fiancée, last month at a Christian conference, reports evangelical magazine WORLD. Although Mr. D’Souza assured the concerned conference organizers that all was chaste in the hotel room, they were nonetheless troubled by the fact that he already had a wife at home.
Mr. D’Souza is the author of The Roots of Obama’s Rage, which was the basis for Obama: 2016, the anti-Obama movie. He is also the president of The King’s College, the Christian Evangelical college and gets paid upwards of $10,000 in speaking fees.
Although Mr. D’Souza said at the time that he had “recently” filed for divorce from Dixie, his wife of 20 years, in fact, court records show that he filed for divorce after the conference.
“When I called D’Souza, he confirmed that he was indeed engaged to Joseph, but did not explain how he could be engaged to one woman while still married to another. When asked when he had filed for divorce from his wife, Dixie, D’Souza answered, ‘Recently,'” writes Warren Cole Smith, WORD‘s associate publisher.
“I have decided to suspend the engagement,” Mr. D’Souza informed Mr. Smith via text message, after a meeting about the incident by the college’s board.
We always thought that divorce was frowned upon by Evangelical Christians regardless of when it takes place, but maybe we are missing something.
