Nun Ownership Claim Leads to Sotheby’s Lot Withdrawal

The BBC reports today that Sotheby’s has withdrawn a lot from a Hong Kong auction after a Buddhist nun claimed ownership of it.

The painting in question was made in 1950 by Zhang Daqian. The painting was expected to sell for around $1.6 million.
