The Whitechapel Gallery in London has named Magnus af Petersens as its new chief curator. (There can’t be a better time to get a new job in London than during Frieze Week.) Mr. af Petersens comes to the museum from the Moderna Museet in Stockholm, where he has been for a decade. He became head of exhibitions and collections there in 2006. The appointment was first reported by Art Review.

Prior to joining Moderna Museet, Mr. af Petersens worked as a curator at Stockholm’s Färgfabriken exhibition venue.

He has organized exhibitions of work by artists Paul McCarthy, Keren Cytter and others, and curated the Nordic Pavilion at the 2011 Venice Biennale.
