Stolen Matisse Will Return to Sweden

An oil painting by Henri Matisse, valued at $1 million, will soon return to Stockholm’s Museum of Modern Art after 25 years at large.

The painting was stolen by a burglar in 1987. A British art dealer was recently approached by a collector hoping to sell it. The dealer noticed that it was listed on the Art Loss Register, an international stolen art database.
