Report: ‘Vote the contract down’

We may have prematurely made Steve Fulop a winner this week.

The Jersey Journal this afternoon reports that a Verona insurance agent who received a lucrative contract with the Jersey City Board of Education last April told a school-board member how to vote on a separate insurance contract.

“Ryan Graham, a director at Fairview Insurance Agency Associates, emailed BOE member Sterling Waterman on Feb. 29, 2012 and told him to vote against a proposed contract with GR Murray, a Princeton insurance firm that was set to work for the Jersey City school district as an insurance consultant.”

“Vote the contract down,” Graham says in the email, which a source who asked not to be identified leaked to The Jersey Journal.
