The Santa Barbara Museum of Art has received a $655,000 gift from an anonymous donor to support the position of curator of contemporary art. Julie Joyce, who currently holds that position, is the beneficiary of the donation.

Ms. Joyce is currently finalizing the museum’s summer exhibition, “Labour and Wait,” a group show that explores “the virtue of craft and labor in contemporary art,” according to Noozhawk. (Thanks to Artforum for the heads up.)

Larry Feinberg, the museum’s director, said in a statement, “This gift brings us one step further to our goal of having each curatorial post and the Director of Education position fully endowed, ensuring that the museum is able to continue to retain and attract the most talented staff to serve our community with important and thought-provoking exhibitions and powerful education programs.”
