The social swans are strapping their megabucks jewels around their necks, wrists and skinny fingers for The School of American Ballet’s benefit, the 2013 Winter Ball: A Night in the Far East, the theme of which is inspired by Van Cleef & Arpels’s collection Le Bal Oriental—which was also the name of a party held in Paris in 1969. Van Cleef & Arpels is also the lead corporate sponsor for the sixth consecutive year, and chairs include the über-stylish Coco Kopelman, Julia Koch and Liz Peek. After the black-tie dinner and drinks at Lincoln Center’s David H. Koch Theater, a very sober group of special ballet students will perform The Encore, a one-time performance choreographed by Silas Farley—so please don’t yell “encore” after the dance.
David H. Koch Theater, 20 Lincoln Center Plaza, (212) 769-6610, cocktails 7pm, dinner 8pm, performance 9pm.
