Democratic incumbent state Sen. Linda Greenstein has to date far outpaced her Republican challenger, former state Sen. Peter Inverso in the 14th District money race.
Greenstein raised $26,550 over the past three weeks, giving her a total of $115,951 so far in this election cycle. Inverso raised nothing over the past three weeks and has to date raised just $8,725 in what many believe could be the premier contest of the legislative season. Inverso’s total includes an $8,200 donation from state Sen. Tom Kean Jr. made earlier in the campaign cycle.
Greenstein has already spent $46,792 on the contest, leaving her $69,159 in the bank. To date, Inverso has spent nothing on the race.
Greenstein has held the seat since 2010 when she defeated GOP incumbent Tom Goodwin. She then went on to win re-election in 2011.
Inverso held the 14th District Senate seat for the better part of two decades and was heavily recruited by the GOP for a comeback bid.
