To Do Friday: Not for Nothing

The venue without the art.

The venue without the art.

New York is an art-buying playground this week, and NADA—the New Art Dealers Alliance, founded in 2002 as a nonprofit collective of professionals working with contemporary art—opens its annual fair today. NADA believes that “the adversarial approach to exhibiting and selling art has run its course,” so it aims to foster a new dialogue in the art world, from large galleries to small spaces, nonprofit and commercial alike. This translates to an unconventional fair dedicated to showcasing new art and focusing on rising talents from around the world.

Pier 36, Basketball City, 299 South Street, (212) 594-0883, 10am-2pm, by invitation only.
