Carroll throws his support behind Lonegan for U.S. Senate

Assemblyman Michael Patrick Carroll (R-25) said he intends to support Steve Lonegan in the GOP Primary for U.S. Senate.

“Absolutely,” Carroll told, referring to the news first reported by that Lonegan is running for the seat left vacant by the death of U.S. Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ).

One of the most dogged movement conservatives in the General Assembly, Carroll is the second Republican legislator today to support Lonegan for U.S. Senate, joining state Sen. Mike Doherty (R-23).

“He will be a reliable vote in favor of judges who will exercise restraint, he will work to repeal Obamacare and he will let the red states pay their own way,” said Carroll.

“I have always felt that a New Jersey vote for Democrat for higher office qualifies someone as an economic masochist,” the assemblyman added.
