The father of Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s future grandchild was arrested earlier this year for allegedly boating under the influence in Florida, according to police and court records first reported by a South Florida gossip site.

Ramiro Quintana, 36, the boyfriend of Georgina Bloomberg, who was revealed to be pregnant yesterday, was allegedly picked up for BUI on January 21, 2013 just before 7 p.m., according to Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office records. He was release the next day at 12:40 a.m., the records show.

The website Gossip Extra reported that Mr. Quintana was stopped by a county sheriff’s marine unit for allegedly speeding through a no-wake zone after Georgina’s 30th birthday celebration on her father’s yacht. (Ms. Bloomberg indeed tuned 30 on January 20th.)

According to a copy of the arrest report provided to Politicker by a Florida State Attorney’s Office, Mr. Quintana, a professional show jumper, was spotted in a smaller boat “speeding and stopping, speeding and stopping,”–and at one point “unable to maintain balance he fell off while stopped and took about five minutes to get back on.”

Officers wrote in their report that Mr. Quintana, clad in a black bathing suit, had “red glossy eyes,” “slow calm slurred speech” and smelled strongly of alcohol. But they noted that Mr. Quintana remained “very polite” throughout the ordeal as he allegedly first denied and then admitted to “having some beers on the larger vessel because it was his girlfriends birthday.”

Mr. Quintana also reportedly had trouble standing on one foot, touching his nose and completing other basic tests.

According to court records, Mr. Quintana eventually pleaded guilty, and was sentenced to 12-months probation, 50 hours of community service, “DUI school,” and was barred from possessing or consuming alcohol or entering any establishment that primarily serve alcohol during his probation period, among other restrictions. He reported completing his community service last week.

The area where Mr. Quintana was boating was protected “manatee or sea cow” habitat, records show.

The mayor’s spokesman and Ms Quintana’s lawyer in Florida did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
