There’s one last piece of nerd news from the Comic Con pile-on: The makers of the new Cosmos released a trailer for the series, due on TV in spring 2014. The three-minute preview (via Entertainment Weekly) features animation, a wolf fight, cavemen, Neil deGrasse Tyson sliding on a pair of aviators, all dealwithit.gif, and heaping helping of space porn (duh).

Brace for the culmination of several years of pop-cultural space madness! Looks like they spared no expense, either:

Is it just us, though, or have they basically cast the head of the Hayden Planetarium as the time-traveling spaceman Doctor Who to remake this thing? For one thing there’s the name–“a Spacetime Odyssey”–and it seems the central conceit will be that Dr. Tyson jets through space and time in a computer-generated TARDIS-style spaceship, explaining the history of the universe all the while.

Not that there’s anything wrong with that. We’re just a little worried that Tumblr’s servers might literally melt under the strain.
