Max Fish, the beloved Lower East Side bar and host of many a wonderful and unassuming art show, will shut down its current location for good on Aug. 1. This Thursday, the bar, which will be moving to Williamsburg, will close their final exhibition, appropriately titled “End of Days,” curated by Ava Rollins and Yolande Whitcomb.

The bar’s owner Ulli Rimkus first announced that Max Fish would close in January 2011 due to high rent, but the place managed to stay open until now because of an extended lease.

So, Brooklyn! The Lower East Side can suck it! Goodbye old timey-themed hair salons, boutique hotels and the Meatball Shop! Hello…old timey-themed hair salons, boutique hotels and, er, the Meatball Shop.

Sigh. New York City, ladies and gentleman.
