Paula Cooper Gallery will exhibit a major Sol LeWitt wall drawing, originally conceived for the Venice Biennale in 1988. The work, Wall Drawing #564: Complex forms with color ink washes superimposed, has not been exhibited since then.

LeWitt’s wall drawings are having something of a moment right now. They’ll be published in a digital catalogue raisonné that will detail the works’ often complex provenance and exhibition history. His Wall Drawing #599: Circles 18 is also being installed in the lobby of the Jewish Community Center on the Upper West Side. The center will host an accompanying exhibition called “Sol LeWitt Shaping Ideas.”

The show at Paula Cooper opens Sept. 3.
