The Cumberland County Regular Republican Organization held a special convention this evening to choose a candidate to run for the unexpired term on the Freeholder Board created by the resignation of Bill Whelan. In a unanimous vote members of the County Committee decided on former Freeholder Director Jim Sauro as their candidate.
Upon receiving the nomination Sauro thanked the County Committee.
“It’s time to move our county in the right direction with logical decisions that will benefit the citizens of Cumberland County,” said the candidate.
Sauro was Freeholder from 2000 – 2002 and Freeholder Director in 2002. A lifelong resident of Cumberland County, he was born and raised in Vineland, and is the CEO of A.R. Sauro Plumbing, Heating and Water Care Inc. Active in the community, Sauro serves on the board of Elwyn, New Jersey, a human services organization serving disabled and disadvantaged individuals.
Cumberland County Regular Republican Organization Chairman Bob Greco said, “I’m thrilled Jim Sauro has joined our hardworking ticket of Surrogate candidate Tim Codispoti and Freeholder candidates Bill Gonzalez and Tom Sheppard. The team has knocked on 4,000 doors and now Jim Sauro will be with them for number 5,000 and beyond.”
