Over at The New Yorker (subscribers only) Alec Wilkinson tells the story of Mark Landis, a mentally ill person who likes to give forgeries to smaller museums around the country. It’s almost the perfect crime because what are they going to do, turn you down? I say “almost” perfect because there is zero to be gained from the endeavor.
