Lonegan attacks Booker and Obama in response to endorsement

Republican U.S. Senate candidate Steve Lonegan today continued his attack on his Democratic opponent, criticizing Booker as more liberal than the president, who endorsed Booker earlier today.

“It’s no surprise that Barack Obama endorsed Cory Booker today,” Lonegan said in a statement after the endorsement from the president was announced. ” Booker is not only a strong and enthusiastic rubber stamp for the Obama Agenda, he has proposed a series of radical ideas even further to the left than anything President Obama has suggested. People in New Jersey are sick of Barack Obama’s lies, his health care plan, his data collection and his inability to lead our nation back to economic prosperity. Cory Booker is too liberal for New Jersey.”

Lonegan has maintained that Booker is a failed mayor of the state’s largest city and is not the right man to replace U.S. Sen. Frank Lautenberg.

The conservative Republican today received the endorsement of U.S. Sen. Jeff Chiesa who was tapped by the governor to succeed Lautenberg after his death.  Chiesa will serve until the Oct. 16 special electtion featuring Lonegan and Booker.
