In the fall of 2014, the University of California, Riverside, will launch a Ph.D. in art history. The program, according to the university, will focus on the history of photography, sculpture and architecture. UCR will be the only school in the UC system to offer specialized studies in the history of photography.
In a statement, Patricia Morton, the chair of the UCR Department of the History of Art, said, “We are a small department, but we have an international profile. Approval of this new degree program by the University of California reflects the excellence of our faculty and the high quality of our existing M.A. program.”
