Booker: Lonegan has no business representing NJ

In response to Steve Lonegan doubling down in support of the government shutdown, Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Cory Booker had a choice rejoinder.

“Steve Lonegan today underscored why he has no business representing New Jersey in the U.S. Senate,” Booker said. “It was bad enough that he re-emphasized his allegiance to the extreme right wing of the Republican Party and their efforts to hold the American people hostage by shutting down our government.

“But in an event today with Texas Gov. Rick Perry, Lonegan also trivialized the furloughing without pay of more than 30,000 New Jersey federal workers, showing just how callous, extreme and out of touch with regular people he is,” he added. “Now is the time for House Republicans to reject Steve Lonegan’s brand of ideological extremism and join with Democrats to pass a bipartisan spending bill that funds the government and protects the delivery of services the American people pay for and have a right to expect.”
