City Council Speaker Christine Quinn’s long-time spokesman, Jamie McShane, is headed to the Real Estate Board of New York.
Mr. McShane, a former television producer who left WNBC six-and-a-half years ago to work for the council, has been tapped as the board’s senior vice president for communications, effective January 1.
“Jamie brings to REBNY a tremendous level of experience dealing with communications and public policy,” REBNY President Steven Spinola said in a statement to Politicker. “He will be an asset to REBNY and our members as we continue to press the point that a successful real estate industry in New York City is the engine that creates good jobs, more housing and the critical tax revenue needed to support and sustain vital government services.”
The newly-created post will be a management-level position, with Mr. McShane leading the board’s full media team. Mr. McShane is known for his deep loyalty to Ms. Quinn, who yesterday said goodbye to staff and colleagues at her final Council meeting.
“Jamie’s love for our city is second to none,” Ms. Quinn said in a statement. “He is a deeply caring, compassionate and dedicated public servant. I am so very fortunate to have had him as part of my team and wish him all the best in this next venture. He is a valuable addition to REBNY and will help them reach new heights in further strengthening New York City.”
