Since it’s never too early to start planning your summer reading list, get excited about Rich Kids of Instagram…the novel.
Yep, pieces of paper sewn together consisting of sentences about the lives of ostentatious teenagers who have too much money for their own good will be a thing that exists in this sick, cruel world. It will be released next June, presumably staged front and center at Urban Outfitters stores in malls everywhere.
We’re surprised the novel isn’t just pictures of rich kids in distress complaining about the temperature of the Perrier considering it’s based off the popular Tumblr. There’s also that forthcoming E! reality show that’s influenced by RKOI.
The book is described as “dishy and hilarious.” It also sounds like an MTV spec script that was pitched to them when Laguna Beach was a thing. Its page on Amazon states:
In a world that is smaller, more connected, and more competitive than ever, where nothing is off limits, some kids are just trying to make a buck—or ten thousand. Prepare to be wowed by this saucy, compulsively readable book about the hilarious display of extravagant wealth and the teenagers who have fallen into it.
Hopefully we’re dead by then.
