I must admit, when I opened the press release from Arts Brookfield for Grace-ful Ice: Dogs—Live Ice Carving, my first reaction was: “That’s crazy.” And it is, a little, but “crazy” can be a compliment in that only-in-New-York kind of way. What exactly will be going on? Artists from New York City collective Okamoto Studio will use chainsaws to “transform ordinary blocks of ice into a menagerie of frolicking canines.” Running a few minutes late? Depending on how cold it is that day, you can still catch the sculptures, which will be on display until they melt.
