The New York art-fair food battles are heating up.
Two years back, Frieze New York stunned the art game by inviting a slew of top-notch culinary talents—Sant Ambroeus, Frankies Sputino, Roberta’s and more—to sell food at its fair on Randall’s Island. It was wild.
Now the Armory, which runs March 6–9 this year, is firing back, announcing that it has tapped Hôtel Americano—the West 27th Street boîte that has come to rival Bottino for after parties and dinners in Chelsea—to stage a restaurant, bar and takeout service in the fair’s VIP lounge. Joseph Buenconsejo is helming the menu, which promises atun crudo, mushroom tacos, salmon a la plancha and other fine fare.
