Possible replacements for Cerf

TRENTON – Just as soon as Gov. Chris Christie issued a statement thanking outgoing Education Commissioner Chris Cerf for his work, names of possible replacements began circling within the Statehouse.

Here’s a quick look at a few of the names PolitickerNJ has heard so far:

Brian Zychowski, the superintendent of North Brunswick Township Public Schools who was more recently appointed to Christie’s task force on gun violence, dubbed the NJ SAFE Task Force.

Chris Emigholz, formerly served as the director of legislative affairs for the Department of Education before joining the Senate Republicans in 2012 as the budget and education director.

Dick Zimmer, the former congressman and state lawmaker was mentioned in Republican circles despite telling PolitickerNJ there’s been no conversation with anyone from the governor’s front office.
