Heavy duty readers, this is your week to be in the city. Tonight, you’ll hear readings from National Book Critics Circle Award finalists in the categories of fiction, general nonfiction, biography, autobiography, poetry and criticism, and while we don’t know exactly who’s reading, the nominees include Hilton Als (White Girls), Jonathan Franzen (The Kraus Project), Beyoncé-approved Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie (Americanah), Ruth Ozeki (A Tale for the Time Being) and Donna Tartt (The Goldfinch). Seating is first-come, first-served. Only care about who wins and want to skip all the blah blah? The awards ceremony is tomorrow, same time and place, and also free.
Auditorium at the New School, 66 W. 12th Street, 6 p.m., free, firstname.lastname@example.org
