The Social Set Spill the Beans on Their Big Apple (Idols and Dream Lunch Venues, Too)

  • Steve Cohen would like to have lunch with Steve Martin. See who Cynthia Nixon, Padma Lakshimi and others would like to share a meal with.

  • Cynthia Nixon (Actress)

“Kitty Carlisle Hart. She was a panelist on the TV show To Tell The Truth when I was a kid, and I always loved her so much. I actually went on the show myself one time and she voted for me, it was the greatest thing. She seemed like such an interesting person. Not only was she an actress who worked for the Marx Brothers, she was also a great promoter of the Opera here in the city. She was such a quintessential New Yorker. If Kitty was still around and I was lucky enough to have lunch with her, then our destination is obvious—the Russian Tea Room, of course!”

  • Steve Cohen (Magician)

“Steve Martin; he grew a hugely successful career after starting out as a magician. I’d like to take him to the Bull & Bear at the Waldorf, where so many famous magicians have enjoyed meals together over the years.”

  • Hilaria Baldwin (Yoga Enthusiast)

“I would love to have lunch with Derek Jeter. He’s done baseball in a really credible way and seems to care so much about the community in New York. It would be great to talk health and fitness with him, too. We’d definitely go to Souen, the macrobiotic restaurant around the corner from our house!”

  • Mario Cantone (Comedian/Actor)

“If I wasn’t dining with my husband Jerry and discussing his upcoming Broadway show, I would have to say Martin Scorsese. He’s Italian, so our mutually shared culture means we would have a lot in common. I’d love to talk about his favorite films too and hey, if Leo DiC would like to stop by, nobody would object. If we were going all-out it would be Per Se, or Del Posto for the fabulous Italian. Or we could just go to Sullivan Street Bakery for an egg sandwich. It’s walking distance from my apartment!”

  • Alexandra Richards (Model/DJ)

“I would probably pick Fran Lebowitz. I think she’s amazing and so old school New York. I’ve met her before but it would be great to have some one-on-one time. I’m also obsessed with the documentary movie she made. As far as a restaurant, I would pick Balthazar because it’s classic but always getting revitalized.”

  • Orfeh (Actor/Singer)

“Martin Scorsese, my favorite director hands down. I’d hopefully be able to coax some never-before-heard set stories out of him and simply revel in his genius and sense of humor. I might work up the nerve to convince him to ‘DiCaprio’ me and put me in his next five films. I’d take him to the Odeon; it’s been around for years, still thriving and has gotten even better over time. Hm . . . kind of like Mr. Scorsese himself.”

  • Montego Glover (Actor/ Singer)

“I’d most like to have lunch with Kevin Bacon. I’m such a fan and I’ve been working with him on The Following. He’s got a lovely, calm and easygoing manner. Very chill New Yorker. I’d take him to Chez Oskar, a little French bistro in Brooklyn. Quiet, yummy food, chill.”

  • Ricardo Rojas (Celebrity Stylist)

“Chelsea Clinton—she’s pretty amazing. I love that she’s involved in charity work and helps to mentor and guide young kids through her initiatives. We could meet at my Atelier on 66th Street for an intimate cafecito. Then we could walk round to The Mark Hotel for lunch as it’s right around the corner, very fashion forward and chic. I would love to ask her about her mom too!”

  • Patina Miller (Actor)

“I recently got to sing for Mayor de Blasio, so it would be fascinating to really sit down with him and talk. The opportunity for a two-way discussion would be too good to miss. We would have to go to my favorite restaurant Ippudo.”
