His kingdom for a baby stroller!
Alright, not a kingdom. But you can put forth forth up to $50 at this IndieGoGo campaign to buy Sir Patrick Stewart a baby stroller. Why? Because Captain Jean-Luc Picard pushing a baby stroller would be awesome, don’t ask stupid questions.
Oh, and Mr. Stewart, who recently moved to Park Slope, said this to New York’s Daily Intelligencer:
“I think we are probably the only residents of Park Slope who don’t have a stroller…I’m actually beginning a campaign — well, I actually began it with Mayor Bloomberg — about banning strollers…It wouldn’t work. Look at me,” he said. “We do eat a lot of kale, but we don’t have a stroller.”
Soren Kisiel and Katie Goodman, producers of the Youtube video Shit Park Slope Parents Say, have branded themselves de facto welcoming committee for Mr. Stewart. Through IndieGoGo they are looking to buy him the perfect house-warming gift — a $1,360 baby stroller.”
“You get the exhilaration of knowing that you’ve helped one of your cultural heroes feel at home in his own neighborhood,” the campaign page says. “It’s a satisfaction you’ll savor every day.”
The campaign, which closes on June 30, raised only $184 so far. Which, well, IS NOT enough, people. Get this man the baby stroller he deserves or so help us he will make sure all the toilets in Park Slope are named after you.
Yes, Patrick Stewart has the power to do that.
