The Orange County Museum of Art has chosen Todd DeShields Smith as its new director and CEO. He previously served as the executive director of the Tampa Museum of Art, where he oversaw a huge renovation of the institution, and as the executive director of the Gibbs Museum of Art in Charleston, S.C. OCMA had been searching for a new director since last September.

In a statement, museum trustee Anton Segerstrom said, “Throughout this search, we have been honored to meet with several extraordinary individuals, all of whom could have brought valuable experience to the institution, but with the breadth and depth of Todd’s background, he was the clear choice for all who were involved and we welcome him to Orange County to strengthen the programs at OCMA and the arts and culture in this region.”

Mr. Smith will begin his new job in August.
