We often wonder how people with young children live in New York City. Subway stops are some of the least stroller-friendly public structures on the planet, and if you want a baby seat on your cab, you’re going to have to drag it around with you all day.
So for those who are finally sick of herding their toddlers’ accoutrements all over NYC, Uber is now providing car seats for children.
The new option is called uberFAMILY and debuts this weekend. Normally, a car seat will carry a $10 surcharge per ride. This weekend, though, the surcharge will be forgotten in honor of Mother’s Day. Care.com is covering the $10 surcharges all weekend. The first 1,000 families to use uberFAMILY will also receive care packages, according to a release.
To use uberFAMILY, open your app and tap the person icon in the left corner of the screen, then apply the promotional code “family.”
The service actually costs less per ride than the recently debuted “Uber for things” courier feature, because schlepping your kid to the American Girl store for the ninth time this year is priceless.
