Under the Table: Spotted Pig Site Rebels Against New Reservation Policy

Chaos ensued

They meant well.

In celebration of it’s tenth birthday, The Spotted Pig– the beloved West Village gastro-pub famous for it’s first come, first serve policy — allowed people to make reservations online for a limited time.

Early this morning their website posted this:

The Spotted Pig will be taking reservations for a limited time beginning on May 12th. We will release the reservations on a daily basis at 8am, 1 week prior to the date the reservation will be on.

In typical New York fashion, the reservations poured in quicker than you can say Ricotta Gnudi, and the restaurant’s website temporarily crashed, and its Open Table reservations scrambled.

The site appears to be back up and running, but forget about trying to book a table for next Monday — those have been filled, of course.

Let’s see what happens tomorrow!
