NJTV News nominated for Emmy Award

PolitickerNJ warmly congratulates the cast and crew of NJTV News With Mary Alice Williams for its Emmy nomimation in the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences’ Mid-Atlantic chapter.

The specific award the show is nominated for is Best Evening Newscast for Larger Markets (markets #1-38).

The Mid-Atlantic chapter includes parts of New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Ohio. Other nominees in this category are CBS Philly, NBC Philly, and ABC Pittsburgh.

“As you know, we’ve come a long way,” said Phil Alongi, the NJTV News’ executive producer, on the show’s nomination. “We faced our share of criticism at the inception of the station back in 2011, but we’ve forged ahead. Viewership is up 25% this year, web numbers are up 30%. We are winning over people every day because of our tireless efforts to cover the issues and news that the New York and Philadelphia markets simply won’t. We are New Jersey’s ONLY statewide broadcaster, and I’m proud of the product we put forth every night.”

Started in 2011, NJTV is a PBS member network serving New Jersey and the tri-state region. It is owned by the New Jersey Public Broadcasting Authority and operated by WNET.org.
