Last Night’s Parties: New York Fashion Week, Day 1

While New York Fashion Week may not have officially started until today, last night’s party schedule begged to differ.

Earlier in the day The Couture Council held a luncheon to honor Carolina Herrera. The designer was joined by fellow First Lady favorites Oscar de la Renta and Ralph Lauren. The high priestess of fashion, Anna Wintour, held court before jetting off to another court at The US Open to watch Serena Williams defeat Flavia Pennetta. Hollywood heavyweights Seth Meyers, Renée Zellwegger, and Lucy Liu also joined in on the honorary afternoon.

Later on, Jennifer Fisher called upon her bevy of model friends, including Hilary Rhoda and Joan Smalls, to celebrate the opening of her new flagship store. While the new flagship sits between on 5th Ave in The Flatiron District, Fisher opted to host friends at Mr. Chow in Tribeca. Prabal Gurung joined in on the fun, along with Beyoncé stylist Ty Hunter – expect to see Ms. Carter sporting some Jennifer Fisher baubles in the near future.

The night was capped by a duo of performances, the first at Elizabeth Street Gardens where Style.com celebrated their new look with Jamie Bochart tickling away at the ivories. The late-night garden party emptied out early as everyone raced to catch songstress BANKS at the nearby Top of The Standard. It turns out the on-the-verge artist, and LA-native, is a New York favorite. The hotspot was packed the gills far before the artist slinked onto the stage for her midnight showtime.
