This doesn’t mean U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ) has already picked out a gubernatorial candidate, sources insist.
The senator told PolitickerNJ reporter Mark Bonamo yesterday that it’s way too early to talk guv 2017.
But here’s an interesting tidbit that came our way…
Mike Soliman, former state director for Menendez, is hosting a “re-election fundraiser luncheon” for Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop on Oct. 22nd in Hoboken.
Fulop’s a possible gubernatorial candidate.
Sources say Soliman’s hosting the event as an individual – unconnected to his job duties at Mercury, where he serves as managing director.
“As you know, Mayor Fulop has been an outstanding leader for Jersey City and the State of New Jersey,” said Soliman in an email blast to supporters obtained by PolitickerNJ. “You are invited to an exclusive luncheon with Mayor Fulop at Teak Restaurant located at 16 Hudson Place in Hoboken on Wednesday, October 22 at 12:30pm. This will be a great opportunity to talk with Mayor Fulop about the future of Jersey City and our state. Tickets are limited so please be sure to let me know if you are able to attend.”
