Party-members backing Democratic State Party Chairman John Currie tonight gave him a rousing send-up at the Liberty House in Jersey City, as the state committee raised $200,000 from a broad array of party figures and constituent groups.

2017 gubernatorial hopefuls Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop, former U.S. Ambassador to Germany Phil Murphy and Assemblyman John Wisniewski (D-19) helped pack the event, where reps from the Fireman’s Mutual Benevolent Association (FMBA), Police Benevolent Association (PBA), New Jersey Education Association (NJEA), Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) organizations all hobnobbed.

Many senate and assembly people attended the event in support of the state party chairman.

Doubling as state party chair and Passaic County Democratic Committee Chairman Currie, sources say, looked strong as he heads into next year and a reelection bid as state party chairman.
