The organization will be committed to engaging individuals 36 years old and younger who live or work in Essex County in local politics and community service. Announcing the new organization, Rashawn Davis, Interim President said: “The resurgence of ECYD comes at an important time in the history of our county as more young people than ever are calling Essex County home and are looking for an opportunity to engage with democratic values. I am honored to be leading this effort, and am excited about creating one of the strongest young democrats groups in the country right here in Essex County, New Jersey.”
The announcement also marks the opening of the application process for positions with the ECYD. Available positions include Director of Special Events, Community Service Director, Membership Director, and Treasurer. Applications are open to residents and those who work in Essex County age 36 and younger.
Essex County Democrat Chairman LeRoy Jones assisted the organizing committee.
“I and the Essex County Democratic Committee enthusiastically endorse this new Essex County Young Democrats organization. This is a great opportunity for the next generation of leaders to work closely with our party and their community,” Jones said. “I am excited to start working with these talented young people to help build and sustain the party for years to come.”
The organizing committee will host four meet-and-greet events across the county in the coming months.
