Asked today whom Hillary Clinton should choose as her running mate, veteran state Senator Ray Lesniak (D-20) offered the name of Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren.
She would give Clinton energy from the progressive wing of the party without the Socialist tag that adorns Senator Bernie Sanders from Vermont.
On Tuesday, a day after she locked up the Democratic nomination, Clinton beat Sanders by 26 points in New Jersey in one of the highest turnout presidential primary elections in New Jersey’s history. 1.25 million people participated in the primary.
Lesniak didn’t rule out Sanders on the ticket, but added, “If he’s willing to be a team player. Not sure that fits him well.”
