The U.S. Attorney’s Office is in the City of Passaic looking into a possible kickback scheme, according to sources.*
This story is developing.
The city has a bad recent track record, with four of the last five mayors winding up behind bars.
A source told PolitickerNJ that law enforcement has made contact with Mayor Alex Blanco, who came into public office on an anti-corruption message back in 2008.
*Update: On Friday, sources close to the case told PolitickerNJ that the main issue is not a kickback scheme but another strain of political corruption, possibly related to an ELEC filing case.
