The director of NJ Working Families today called on Gov. Chris Christie to resign the New Jersey governorship in the aftermath of federal prosecutors’ assertions that the governor knew about Bridgegate in real time.

“Today’s revelation from federal prosecutors make clear what we suspected all along,” said Analilia Mejia. “Governor Christie was aware of the political retribution taking place in Fort Lee, failed to stop high level members of his administration and then proceeded to cover it up through deceit.

“These are all at minimum a misuse of public office, and are impeachable offenses under the New Jersey constitution,” the labor leader added. “We call on the Governor to immediately resign. Failure to do so should be met with immediate action by the NJ Assembly and the initiation of impeachment proceedings, as his actions clearly warrant.”
