While Bergen County freeholder Maura DeNicola may have lost her bid for re-election during last Tuesday’s general election, the Republican is hoping that her time in public service has not come to an end. She announced via Facebook post that she is pursuing the vacancy in New Jersey’s 40th legislative district created by Assemblyman Scott Rumana’s appointment to a judgeship with the Passaic County Superior Court.
She wrote: “Well Friends, after serious consideration and support, I’m in! I am seeking election to the Vacant Seat created by the departure of Assemblyman Scott Rumana in NJ District 40. I very much look forward to connecting with all of the dedicated D40 County Committee members before the November 22nd vacancy vote.”
DeNicola joins Wayne Republican leader Michael Marotta and Wyckoff Mayor Kevin Rooney in her pursuit of the seat. The district is split between towns in Morris, Passaic and Bergen Counties.
