Source: Simpson Won’t Steal Christie’s Thunder (Such as It Is)

A source close to Trump world denied that the elevation of James Simpson, the former commissioner of New Jersey’s Department of Transportation and the former head of the Federal Transit Administration during the George W. Bush administration, would be the president-elect’s sole offering to position-seeking New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.

“He’ll get something,” said the wired-in source, referring to loyal Trump tramper Christie.

Reports this week noted the presence of Simpson—Christie’s former transportation chief—on Trump’s short-list for transportation, even as Christie himself continues to dangle in no man’s land.

Most insiders at this point are circulating the argument that the New Jersey governor is likely to replace Reince Priebus (Trump’s chief-of-staff choice) as chairman of the Republican National Committee.
