What’s the Best Smart Luggage for Holiday Travel?

We took the some tech savvy suitcases out for a spin—and found the best one on the market

If Thanksgiving is bringing you to grandma’s house, Christmas to your in-laws and New Years Eve to a far flung beach, you probably need some luggage to tote along with you. Before you reach into the depths of your closet to pull out a tattered suitcase, consider the newest high tech bags that do much more than just transport clothes and shoes. Some come equipped with a built-in scale, others feature a removable charger and a few styles even include location tracking.

Just last year, the smart luggage category was new and novel, but fast forward to 2016, and the market is saturated with tech savvy cases. Needless to say, it’s intimidating when trying to decide which style to pick. But don’t fret, the Observer did the legwork in finding the best hard case that money can buy. We focused on three startup brands that have been innovators in the travel space: Away, Raden and newcomer, Arlo Skye. We took each of their options for a spin, picking the largest possible style that comes equipped with technological bonuses.

Whether you’re a roller or a folder, packing your loot in one of these bags will make your holiday travel a merry experience (and one that is a lot less stressful).
