Bangladeshi National Allegedly Plotted to Blow Up New York Federal Reserve

The New York Police Department and Federal Bureau of Investigation have arrested 21-year-old Bangladeshi Quazi Mohammad Rezwanul Ahsan Nafis for an alleged plot to bomb the New York Federal Reserve Bank in lower Manhattan.

Mr. Nafis was taken into custody Wednesday morning after authorities say he used a cell phone to try and detonate what he thought was a van filled with a thousand pounds of explosives. The van was a dud. Mr. Nafis was the target of a joint F.B.I./N.Y.P.D. sting that began months ago, after authorities became aware he was planning something: Read More

The Denver Post reports the incident occurred around 3 p.m. There were people in the offices at the time but no injuries were reported.

A reporter for Denver’s alt-weekly Westword tweeted a photo of the shattered window and his puzzled comment: Read More

Police Search for Jimmy Hoffa Under Roseville, Mich., Driveway

The mystery of the fate of International Brotherhood of Teamsters boss Jimmy Hoffa is one of the most enduring in American history. Hoffa vanished in July 1975 and in the decades since his name has become a punchline for jokes about unexplained disappearances.

Shouts and murmurs of a new Hoffa resting place come out every other year or so–the latest candidate is an innocuous suburban driveway in Roseville, Michigan. It’s hard to take new rumors that Hoffa’s grave has been found too seriously anymore, but ABC News reports there may be something to this one: Read More

Staten Island Borough President Molinaro Calls Lady Gaga a ‘Slut’ [Video]

James Molinaro may know who Lady Gaga is but he probably isn’t aware of her fandom, the “little monsters,” and how they might react to an NY1 report that Mr. Molinaro referred to the pop star as a “slut” while launching an anti-drug campaign Monday night.

The performer’s fans are fiercely loyal and may not take well to the Staten Island Borough President’s characterization of their idol, whom Mr. Molinaro said was part of a celebrity culture that promotes drug use, among other things. Read More

Happy Saturday, Here’s A Couple of Guys Fighting Over a Taxi [Video]

Based on the minimal information in the YouTube description of this unintentionally comic viral video, it appears film producer and screenwriter Ron Senkowski was “walking between film financing meetings” in New York City on Thursday when he captured this instance of mutual thuggery between a pair of Wall Street types waiting for a cab.

In the video we see two nicely-dressed men of indeterminate age slapping, shoving, then grappling until one finally wins and slams that yellow door. The camera then swings rather sadly away, as if Mr. Senkowski was shaking his head sadly at the state of humanity. Read More
